Seems fairly common for SFHs in the area to have a monthly HOA which cost is primarily driven by the cost to maintain a "clubhouse". Small pools, gyms, and rec centers, etc.
While HOAs are typically not ideal, I'm not opposed to a few hundred dollars to support an association without a clubhouse. The idea of a clubhouse that I likely wouldn't use and likely increase in cost annually is something that typically deters me from looking at homes in that subdivision.
Interested to hear experiences of those who've lived in this type of community.
