Missouri - We are rookies, but we want to sell our main home ourselves and would like information on how to avoid pitfalls.

Should we pay to list our home on the MLS, or just post it on Zillow, Redfin, and Craigslist? Also, do we really need a real estate attorney? If so, for what?
