Selling home and buying another - advice requested

I am a first time home owner planning to sell and purchase another home. I'll most likely need the cash from my current home in order to purchase the second.

So I would be renting for a time until I purchase the second home.

I'm assuming there is no way around this. Is there something banks do to allow the purchase of the second before the first is sold? I'm thinking there is no way but want to be sure.

Also, if this is posted in the wrong place please let me know and apologies.

And of course, the realtors don’t realize the details of my specific circumstances: I purchased and paid for the house in full prior to marriage Only my name is on the deed And most importantly, we have never lived in the house as a marit...
