We live in Rhode Island. Property values have gone up quite a lot. We purchased a 2700 sq ft colonial at $380k in 2018. Cash. We have done few upgrades such as a new kitchen, added a pergola off the living room to pool area. Painted, new carpet upstairs.
Zillows estimated value is around $689k. Recent comparable home in our town have listed around $699 and have sold for as much as $820, with bidding wars. And those homes do not have as many upgrades as us. Such as a pool/ finished basement, central vac, central ac etc.
We know this isn’t our forever home. We actually want to downsize, yet more private/ property. Properties we have looked at are currently in the range of $650-$850k.
Is now the time to sell and move to our next house? Or should we be sticking around because it’s paid for and value is high?
I’m hoping to almost do an “even swap” in the sense of selling and buying.
