I calculated how short we are on housing in the US as of 2024

this is revised from my earlier post as yes I forgot to factor in everyone doesn't live alone, but 29% of people in 2024 do, 267,454,918 people in the US are age 18 and above.

(267,454,918 x 29% = 77,561,926. take that number and subtract it by 267,454,918 to get 189,892,992 then divide by 2 and add the 77,561,926 back for a final total of 172,508,422)

As of 2024 we had a minimum of 140,000,000 houses which means we are short 32,508,422 houses as of 2024.

We have maintained separate residences even after we got married. (That a separate topic!). I am now selling this house. Realtors have told us that my husband has to sign the deed at time of transfer but I am not convinced since the house has not been our marital residence. The realtors like to use the phrase "one to buy; two to sell", which seems like a broad-stroke statement which is not applicable under all circumstances. And of course, the realtors don’t realize the details of my specific circumstances: I purchased and paid for the house in full prior to marriage Only my name is on the deed And most importantly, we have never lived in the house as a marit...
