cookie cutter neighborhood for kids?

We currently live in a 130-year-old Victorian home on a private lot. We loved fixing it up before kids, but with young children, we’ve realized how much upkeep it requires. No garage, expensive heating oil, a damp basement, limited storage, no central AC, and not much functional space.

We’ve lost out on 4 homes so far, all older character homes in established neighborhoods. I love the charm, but we’re now considering a newer, more “cookie-cutter” home that checks nearly all our practical boxes: 4 bedrooms, 2-car garage, second-floor laundry, and a great family-friendly neighborhood with lots of kids. I never thought I’d seriously consider this type of home, but I’m wondering if we’d actually be happier in this season of life with something more functional and lower-maintenance.

Anyone else considering the same? Maybe you already live in one of these plans? Pros/cons?

Question With Tricon "Pending ID".....

My wife and i, along with 2 other peopl applied to rent a house, and our application says "Approved, Pending ID". Anyone else know what that means?
