Opinions on buying home and taking over lease

My wife and I are considering purchasing a home that would require us to take over the lease of the current renters and then we would move in within 6 months. Has anyone out there done this, have feelings or opinions on it? It’s a great property and checks the boxes for us to be willing to do it. How would you handle it?
