I requested to terminate the contract on a home after the option period ended due to a dispute over repairs. Seller requested the release of the option money or go to court for breaking the contract. I released the money to the seller and now my agent is saying that the seller won't terminate the contract. I consulted a lawyer who said that releasing the earnest money relieves me of any contractual obligation to buy. I'm confused, what's going on here?
