We’re in a pickle here in Chicago — We moved into our unit June 29th and upon the first rainfall noticed we have a roof and ceiling that is leaking in our bedroom closet. We notified our landlord that same day (June 30th) and he said they knew about it.
Almost a month later we still have the leak. I notified the landlord on June 18th we understand to withhold a reasonable amount of rent unless it is fixed. We are prepared to do this, but one question...
How do we determine a “reasonable amount” to withhold from our rent? Any other tips?
