Seller might be ghosting us during negotiations but I love this house. What should I do?

So for some background I’m in the process of buying a house that needs some rehab work. We did the inspection about 2 and a half weeks ago and found out lots of the work that was “done” was done wrong and wasn’t up to code and my contractor would have to go back and redo lots of it. My realtor and I decided that it would be reasonable given the circumstances to ask for 14-16% off my offer price because the costs to fix the “completed” work was great. After a few back and forths the seller himself had a call with my realtor on Friday and rejected our number and said he would get us a number by the end of the weekend. It’s now middle of the day Tuesday and we haven’t heard anything and my realtor thinks we should send over a release of contract if we don’t hear anything by the end of the day.

However, I really really love the house and after a lot of thinking and deliberation with close friends, family and my significant other who would be living there with me we decided we are willing to wiggle and give in a bit to secure this house because I have a grand vision for it. What do you all suggest? And how should we get the seller to respond?

Edit: this is a house that’s in the middle of rehab. The seller “completed” the rough in work.
