First time home seller here.
We had an early morning showing last week and when I came home after they left the whole house smelled like .. sewer.
Turns out someone pooped in the master bath and didn't flush it all the way.
I'm a germaphobe as it is but this freaked me out and I'm grossed out. Since I'm divorcing, I really need to sell.
How do I keep this from happening again?
Or is this what I'm supposed to expect?
I'm immunocompromised and the realtor knows this. Do I tape the toilets shut? I'll be leaving hand sanitizer and wipes in all the rooms from now on. There's already a sign asking people to use masks, shoe covers and wipe things down that they touch.
Towels are removed before each showing.
None of the faucets were used (all the sinks were dry so they didn't wash their hands after pooping)
I get people wanting to try faucets to check water pressure etc and peek in closets to try things out and imagine this as their own house... but pooping is a bit much, to me.
Am I overreacting? I'm so grossed out and dread the next house showing.
