We want to buy our first home within the next few months, but we do not have a car. We want to move from a big city out to the suburbs, so a car will be more of a necessity. We will also need a car to travel around looking at houses, moving, etc.
From what I read, it's not advised to buy a car right before we are going to apply for mortgage pre-approval, but a car is a requirement for us to be able to move. It will be a used car and we will put enough down to only need a small 5k-7k loan at the most.
How much will a small loan like this really hurt us if we try to get mortgage pre-approval soon after?
