I know that I will have to pay taxes for capital gains on the sale, but I truly don’t want to be there anymore. I bought the house to live close to my brother but he passed away unexpectedly. I gave it a few months so I didn’t act impulsively, but I still feel the same way. I considered renting it for a year (Airbnb is not an option), but what if by then the market is not favoring the seller like now. According to real estate comps, I should (hopefully) be able to recover my investment even after taxes. Thoughts/advice? What would you do?
