Just had someone try this on me. I sent photos of home she was going to pay cash for. A great lead because it was a $600k home.
She then started talking about crypto and how she can help me make money. She also would text every day saying happy whatever day of the week it was. Another odd thing.
When I sent photos of home she sent me a selfie. Which weirded me out.
I kept up the conversation for about 2 weeks. She sent another selfie and I could not locate either image on google lens.
Well finally she sent a picture of her grocery cart. I found that image on about 7 different instagram accounts.
I still didn’t tell her I knew she was trying to scam me. She wanted me to attend a 30 minute trading session so I could make some money. I told her I’d wait til she came to town in a couple weeks because I was a visual learner.
Well then she said she couldn’t teach me because it would take longer than the week she was going to be in town. So I said well you can teach me in 30 minutes through an online session so why can’t you do it in person in 30 minutes. Then she got very amped up saying she wanted to help me.
So I just told her to explain one thing to me and sent her the grocery cart picture she sent and the identical photo posted over a year ago on random instagram accounts then told her she was very sketchy and just blocked her.
I also created a report on fbi.gov. Hopeful that may save someone else from losing money. Glad I am a paranoid person because I have told others about this and they said they would not have figured it out
