I'm looking at purchasing a 1000 sq ft condo that has popcorn ceilings. The place has an amazing city view but the interior is outdated with original 80s things but the popcorn ceilings are the worst! Building was built in 1981 and they've kept it in good condition but didnt modernize at all (think browns and oranges, brown wood trim and doors, and a wet bar next to the wood fireplace). The place has been on the market for 139 days so I'd like to use that as some bargaining power. I was thinking of putting in an offer for full listing price, but asking the seller to cover closing costs and the cost of removing the popcorn ceilings. Is that asking too much? The water heater is also from 2013 so my agent suggested we could ask to have that replaced, but i think the popcorn ceilings would cost a lot more so would rather have that covered and I do believe one of the reasons it's not selling is because the whole place looks so outdated. Is this a reasonable offer?
(Looking at past listings, i can see in photos that some of the other units dont have it so i know it's allowed to remove the popcorn ceilings.)
