I bought my first home directly from a family member without using an agent. Now that I’m looking to buy a second home in a more traditional way, I’m considering working with an agent but have some concerns.
I understand that traditionally, the seller pays the buyer’s agent’s commission. However, I’ve heard this is becoming more negotiable, and buyers are increasingly covering their agent’s fees.
Since this is more negotiable than it was, how common is it for sellers to still pay the buyer’s agent’s commission? Would it be unreasonable to begin working with an agent expecting the seller to cover these costs?
I’d appreciate any insight.
