Why is my mobile home dealer trying to convince me to get a different home than I told her that I wanted?
I've been looking into getting a single section mobile home. I've got my eye on one, and it's on the less expensive side of mobile homes. But it has everything we need, and it's brand new.
So I went to my local dealer and asked her if she could get this specific one in. She advised me that they sell three different brand mobile homes, and although the one I'm asking for isn't one of the three she listed, she still said she could get it for me. I don't fully understand how that works.
So her first question was, "why this home?". To which I advised, because I'm trying to work within a certain budget. Her next comment was to ask me to come tour some of her mobile home units and see if I liked any of them.
I could already sense something was weird. I told her this was the home I wanted, and she said she could get it in. Now I feel like she is doing everything in her power to convince me not to go with this one (mind you, most all of these single wide units are about the same... This one was cheaper because the interior walls were paneling and not sheet rock, and a few other things made it less expensive).
Then she goes on to say, that, "I've had to make people sign waivers and im not afraid to do that if you go with something that is falling apart and dangerous". Okay, so then I was DEFINITELY thinking she's just making shit up. She didn't really say it in an offensive way. But the more I stood firm the more intense her choice of words got.
First she asks why, then she suggests others, then she mentions having to sign a waiver. Mind you, this is a VERY nice home... It's up to code and everything. Its just less expensive...
Is she behaving this way because she's trying to convince me not to go outside her listed brands? Can someone please explain to me the benefits of selling someone a mobile home through their listed brands, as opposed to one not listed?
