I am in the process of creating a living trust and transferring my house located in California into the trust. The house was purchased 10 years ago.
I was reading the fine print of the legal description in my grant deed and title insurance policy for the first time (I know, should have done it 10 years ago) and noticed it has an error when I compared it to the map attached to the documents. The error is on the "book number" (as in "Book 210 of maps at page 20"). Everything else (lot number, tract number, county name, document number, apn number) and the parcel description are correct.
How serious is this discrepancy? Do I need to contact the county recorder, an attorney, and everyone and their mother to fix it?
Thank you.
