Our current house has been on the market for 2 weeks now, we're under contract on a new house to close at the end of October. My current house is not contingent on closing for the new one, however, we would like to get some $ from it to do some improvements on the new one.
Instead of selling my current house, I'm thinking of keeping it and renting it out. Is there a way to do a refinance of the current house and get the equity out of it? We wanted to sell the current house before closing on the new one, but it doesn't seem that is going to happen. So keeping this house in our portfolio is now an option for us. Question is, can we get equity out of this one right now or just have to keep it as is with the mortgage we have now?
