So I don't know if I'm being paranoid or not but I'm here to ask and see if anyone feels I may be being brushed off purposely.
So I began house hunting and found a home I'm really interested in, the house is kind of underpriced for the neighborhood, size, and etc.. so I figured something is up obviously. I called the agent to see what the deal is and they said the owner previously rented the property out and the last tenants destroyed the inside... broken walls and etc.. I asked if there was any structure damage and they said no so I figured I still wanna check it out as I can do a lot of stuff on my own and have relatives experienced in this sort of stuff, she kept repeating how damaged it was and etc.. kind of odd for an agent selling the home to be bashing a house but whatever.. agent hung up on me immediately after.
2 days later I made time in my day to go head over and check it out and she told me that the house was in acceptance already and it was signed for already, I asked if I can still see it and she just hung up before I could finish my sentence.
The next following day she called me and said the deal was off the table and the person is taking offers again. Really odd that an acceptance was signed and in less than 24 hours was off the table. So I asked if I can see it she said yea...hung up immediately again.
About a week passes(been busy, a lot of crazy life stuff going on) and tried seeing it today.. she said an acceptance was signed 2 days ago then just like previously hung up on me. I called again and asked if I can still see it and maybe put in an offer... said yes and hung up. Didn't even try to schedule anything with me.
Throughout this whole process not once have they asked my name or anything. You'd think an agent would be more proactive and try to get another client but whatever.
Then I began to think about it and had another think the same that maybe the agent is trying to buy time basically and have a friend buy it? so they're trying to deter people from buying it? since the house is undervalued for the area. I just found it so weird that the house has been on the market for over a year and all the sudden when I'm calling about it the owners have signed 2 acceptance letters in 2 weeks and the agent isn't trying to schedule anything with me to see it.
I noticed that this person is the exclusive agent for this home. Is it possible I can go around them and speak to the agency representing the house directly? because this agent has done nothing it seems to bring in potential buyers and if anything is shoo'ing people away with telling them how much damage there is and how I'll need so much money to repair it.
EDIT: I'm in New York City
