I currently live in a single family home with wife and mother in California. My name is on the title and I've been paying the mortgage. Recently, I started a remote dream job that may require me to relocate out of state later this year but won't likely know until June. In the event that my wife and I move, I would want to continue paying the mortgage for my mom to live in the house. I am wondering what is the correct approach to handle this from a tax perspective if it is my house but no longer my primary residence?
