Torn between buying a house and uncertainty due to coronaVirus

Hi all, I work as engineer in high cost geo. I have been saving since I started working. I have enough funds in account to afford 20% percent on 500,000$ house. I have been seriously thinking to move to a low cost geo within few years. I started looking for good houses in low cost geo. A posting just came up on realtor, that has my heart set on it. Its 0.63 acre lot with a 1905 built house. Its a kooky house, but its lot size and the location in a #1 school district. The price is 650K, which is way above my price range. However, I think I can still pull it off, with some negotiation. What I am torn between, is the market situation and the uncertainty in this CoVid times. Reading all the news and information, I expect the covid time is gonna last of another 6 months. So, I unable to decide. What if things take a ugly turn and I m stuck with house I cant pay monthly on. The market crashes. Earlier this year, I have let go a similar opportunity. I read somewhere, one should buy a hou...

Can two people in two different states get a mortgage together?

First time and complete amateur so bear with me. Long story short, I live in one state and she lives in another for school. I have the income and no credit, she has the credit with very little income. The house would be here with me. submitted by /u/KalashBash [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/RealEstate/comments/fqwrhe/can_two_people_in_two_different_states_get_a/

COVID related new construction question (mid May closing, Dallas-Fort Worth area)

Greetings all, I am supposed to close on a home in the Dallas/Fort Worth area mid-May. I have $20k earnest money down, sale is NOT contingent on me selling my current home. I signed the contract back in November for a $775k home. I realize that COVID will likely drop home prices based on demand and economic pressures. I also believe that my home, which I could have sold for $475k+ prior to the downturn, will likely lose 10-20% of that value. Short of breaking the contract, is there an opportunity to either ask for mortgage payments to be made on my behalf, a reduction of purchase price, or other potential ways for me not to lose my shirt on this sale? Ultimately I like the house, but if the $775k home is available 6 months from now for $700k, taking that 20k earnest money hit won't hurt nearly as much. submitted by /u/texican79 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/RealEstate/comments/fqwq5s/covid_related_new_construction_question_mid_may/

Mortgage Leads?

As a independent mortgage broker I am looking to scale my business. Does anyone have experience buying Mortgage leads? Zillow vs LendingPad vs FreeRateUpdate etc. I’m looking to buy exclusive leads and preferably live transfers if possible. Any insight would be great. As is housing

Offering on a house, NOT listed as is, and our offer was accepted. We had a home inspection done, and it was pointed out the roof should be replaced. We knew the age of the roof and now after completing our home inspection we messaged our agent with the details of it. She said now that the sellers are wanting to sell as is (which was never advertised and never disclosed to us). Is there anything we can do/ if not how do we tell our realtor we want to back our? submitted by /u/TheCondor26 [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/RealEstate/comments/fqvh9x/as_is_housing/

Appraisal scheduled for 2 days from now

Hey guys, we're getting our home refinanced, and just got a call from our lender that the appraisal will be on Monday at 11am. This is a little sooner than expected since we just locked in our rate yesterday..super happy to move forward quickly though! My main concern is our outdoor space...it's been raining a lot here, and we haven't mowed our lawn in....a long time. It's supposed to rain all weekend as well...is this a big deal? To be honest our whole outdoor area is pretty rough at the moment...nothing crazy, but overgrown bushes, uneven backyard etc. I know most people say there's nothing you can do in a few days that will affect the appraisal, but I would hate to have our yard counted against us. Do I need to worry about this at all? submitted by /u/Roonytoon [link] [comments] source https://www.reddit.com/r/RealEstate/comments/fqvnf9/appraisal_scheduled_for_2_days_from_now/

Is a non-closed permit an issue on buying a home?

I have a closing on Wednesday, I am not asking for legal advice but I am trying to figure out what to ask and look out for when speaking with various parties. I am buying a home next week in FL. During the title search the title company found out that there was a water softener that wasn't paid off and had an official lien and then a roof installed last year that did not have a lien, but was currently having payments made on it. The roofing company that did the work was paid, but I guess a loan was taken out to pay roofing company. The water softener and roof were going to be taken out of the sellers total amount and paid off completely. While doing the walk through with the owners, they casually mentioned how they had worked out an agreement with the title company where the roof was not going to be paid off at closing. I wasn't initially alarmed. But then I thought, well what happens if they stop making payments on the roof? I know I am not legally liable for the loan amoun...

Choosing a place to live, looking for insight!

Hey everyone, I’m looking for the best state to move to on the east coast. I currently live in Pennsylvania and am 21 years old. I want to get out of this state and move south (east coast). I’m debating between moving to North or South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida. I hope whichever state I chose to move to I will stay there for the rest of my life. Which state do you guys think is the best and why? I’m looking for somewhere warm, safe , and the best bang for my buck so to speak. I won’t be able to move for about 2-3 more years but I’m preparing mentally. Please give me some good insight and opinions! Home Inspection Concerns

Hello all, I had a home inspection done and got the results back today. Nothing major was noted on the report but a few safety and minor fixes/monitor were noted and was curious if someone could guide me in the right direction on how much some of these fixes cost or how difficult they would be. If this is the wrong place please point me else where and I'll remove. Thanks in advance! "Note - Contract includes $1000 in repairs for seller, if any of these can apply." Grounds - Hose bibs - Front bib not on. Recommend anti siphon valves to prevent back flow into household water supply. Rear Center Bathroom - Capped wire - likely went to an old baseboard heater. Should be in a junction box. Seller states baseboard heat was disconnected at breaker, found disconnected wires in box. Electric/Cooling System - Main Panel - Double tapping on breakers can cause arcing, heat, and fire. Open unused breakers can possibly be removed and replaced with appropriate ampere breakers ...
